The Battle
Scientists and doctors are still trying to discover why the body chooses to attack itself, as in Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases.
Is it environmental, genetic, social or disease enhanced by some other disorder.
I believe it is both genetic and caused by an illness I had as a teen.
Genetically as I have distant and close relatives that are also suffering from MS.
Illness related because it has been suggested that the Epstein Barr virus or Mononucleosis is linked to Multiple Sclerosis.
Are bodies carry billions of cells that when triggered can develop into many different diseases.
As a 14 year old I had mononucleosis for two weeks with a very high fever for several days and it was a month before I resumed normal activity.
Did these two things combined develop into the debilitating condition I have battled for 18 years?
Regardless of what the scientific world believes I am fairly certain that these two factors triggered my MS.
I did not choose this battle.
It definitely chose me.
