Back when I was still fighting with the devil in my bathroom, I was home with my then 2-3 year old granddaughter. We were getting ready for a visit from a very good friend of mine who also adored her.

There were days when I had short bouts of fatigue and other days of full on good luck with accomplishing anything fatigue. This was one of those days. While attempting to dress it was impossible to stand up long enough to pull up my pants. The more I tried the harder it became, to the point of exhaustion and tears.

The doorbell was ringing so I threw my robe over my lap and went to meet my friend. She immediately knew that something was wrong and that is all it took to unleash the frustration I was experiencing. Sometimes all we need is understanding and a warm hug.

I know, I could have called to cancel the visit but I also knew that isolation would not make my discomfort less severe. She was there for me when I needed it most and I only pray that I will be able to reciprocate the same to her.

Sirach 6:14-16

Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter; whoever finds one finds a treasure.

Faithful friends are beyond price, no amount can balance their worth.

Faithful friends are life-saving medicine; those who fear God will find them.
