Lose It
After the holidays this past year, my husband and I decided that we had both put on weight that prompted bigger sized clothing along with higher cholesterol counts, snoring and back issues.
It was time for a change.
Being non-ambulatory makes losing weight that much more difficult, plus how frustrating it is that men lose it so much quicker than women.
We had tried keto in the past with decent results so that was our plan once again. The first step to begin was to empty the refrigerator and pantry of anything containing grains of any kind and high calorie, high sugar contents, fruit other than berries and any high processed foods.
So basically, keto includes proteins, sugar free, high fat foods.
The first week on keto can be tough for the body to adjust. Although within a week the cravings subside and I never feel hungry or experience the letdown of to many carbs and sugar in my system.
Don’t get me wrong. Keto is not for everyone. Discussing diets with your doctor is always best, and there are many diet options available.
Within the first month I began to notice less bloating and my clothes were slightly loose.
I am only able to weigh at my neurologist’s office as they have a chair scale that I can use.
At my yearly follow up today I was able to see if my efforts have been rewarded.
Success! I am down 15 pounds, which is a miracle being that the only exercise I am able to accomplish is arm work. The only requirement now is to maintain this healthy weight in hopes that my cholesterol is below my normal elevated number.
