My husband and I have spent two visits a year in Greeley, Colorado at the Homewood Suites for his work.

There has never been an issue with getting the correct handicap accessible room, until today.

When checking in we were told that the room we usually stay in was occupied by someone who decided to extend his stay, which leaves us in a bind. After explaining this to us the front desk clerk assigned us another room which was supposedly a handicapped room. When checking it out, it was obvious that it was for hearing impaired, not having grab bars or enough space to move around the room without running into furniture.

So, back down to the lobby to explain the problem and then looked at another room with the same issue. Seriously, how does a front desk clerk in a hotel not know the difference between accessible options? We requested the manager to speak to us. After being informed that the room we normally stay in is the only one of its kind, we ended up with a regular suite. I had visions of “The Nightmare in Aspen” as my chair barely fit through the door.

So, it doesn’t matter if you make a reservation two months in advance, you could still not get the room you requested.
