In the past I considered myself a high achiever. I felt confident that I could do whatever my mind could dream up.

For me the exact opposite is what MS has forced me to do.

I mentioned last week that I had gum surgery, a UTI and back surgery in the span of ten days time. This meant having constant help with everything I needed to do each day. It was easier to not dress the bottom half of my body so that I could transfer from one chair to another, the toilet and the bed so as not to cause pain when moving up and down. Never in a million years did I ever imagine that I would be so weak and in pain to cause this scenario. It is only one of the humiliating results of a chronic condition.

Today I am feeling pretty normal, or my baseline normal. I am fully dressed, can feed myself, shower and help with other small tasks. What a change from a few days ago when I felt isolated and embarrassed about my predicament. I have to constantly remind myself that MS is different every single day. Some better, some worse.
