Say That Again
It is easy to blame forgetfulness and loss of memory on my age, not paying attention or understanding what was said. Easy but not particularly accurate.
Memory loss is one of the most common cognitive disorders that can be attributed to Multiple Sclerosis brain lesions.
For example: I received a text message that the new prescription for my glasses was ready to be picked up. I told my husband and we planned to stop there after a PT appointment this morning. Over the weekend I mentioned three or more times that we should pick them up on Saturday or Monday even though we had planned to pick them up today. It is very frustrating and ridiculous to be reminded over and over about something that I clearly knew.
I do what I can to avoid my not remembering. I make lists, calendar reminders, texts, emails and online services from the two health correspondence apps that I have on my iPad.
For the most part this works well for me, although there are days when I can’t remember what I had for lunch three hours ago!
