POTS
Nope, not the metal kind used in cooking.
But rather:
Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome
Also called: POTS
Symptoms related to the reduced blood volume that occurs when standing up.
This syndrome is usually triggered when a person stands up after lying down. It most commonly affects women between the ages of 15 and 50.
Symptoms include lightheadedness, fainting, and rapid heartbeat, which are relieved by lying down again.
Regardless of how much I stand or my age over 50 I am still a canidate.
I had an urgent care doctor suggest that my symptoms mirror this disease.
I have seen a cardiologist who decided that my symptoms were merely tachycardia and there was not much he could recommend, other than yet another pill that would raise my blood pressure so that my resting heart rate could possibly be lowered, thus reducing the fainting that I experience several times a month.
The side effects were many and adding it to my already existing medications would not be a good idea.
So, MS has blessed me with another disease to add to my portfolio.
On a more positive note, I read an article about a German doctor who is doing clinical trials for a myelin repair drug. Even though it is years from being a reality, the MS community has an eternity of hope!
