Pain Is Pain
My husband has always been in excellent health. Rarely takes any over the counter medications with only the occasional cold or back twinge, usually from transferring me or sleeping wrong.
I have always been the one that complains of pain or other issues caused by MS.
When people around me whine or express a health problem, I have a hard time with empathy towards them.
Recently, my husband awoke with pretty severe pain in his hip. It was producing tingling and numbness on his left side down to his foot. He was doing a series of new stretches and following advice from everyone that suggested anything with no change in the problem. After further investigation we came to the conclusion that it is probably the sciatica nerve that is causing the symptoms he is having.
I have never seen him so frustrated or uncomfortable with the pain that a sciatica nerve can produce. He finally made a doctor and chiropractor appointment to see if either one had any better suggestions from what he had already tried.
Now back to me. All of this has made me reevaluate my pain levels compared to others. I guess we all experience pain in different ways and mine cannot be assimilated to anyone else’s. Pain is pain.
