Back In Time
My family grew up on a cul-de-sac that backed up to dense woods. Growing up on that street with dozens of other families with kids, we could play outside all day and into the night. Hide and seek, kick the can, skating and bike riding. I rarely wore shoes causing my feet to become tough as leather. Our yard had clover as a covering and bumblebees took residence in it every summer. I can’t even count how many bee stings I received on any given week. One I particularly remembered was on the arch of my right foot. When that sucker began to heal I thought I would go crazy with the itching it caused. A few years later I was outside playing hide and seek when I stepped on either glass or a metal object that cut the same location as the bee sting. I probably should have gotten stitches but back then you just covered it with a bandage and returned to play.
Many years later after my MS diagnosis that same spot on my foot began to itch uncontrollably. Scratching it only made it worse till I thought I might actually reach the bone. I have other areas that feel the same but not as severe as that foot.
So, is the nerve damage in my childhood related to the excessive itching on that foot or is it all MS, or just a weird coincidence?
