Another road trip this past weekend. This time over the mountains from Denver to Grand Junction where our daughter and family lives.

If you have traveled or lived in Colorado, you know that fall and spring in the mountains can be gorgeous or treacherous. Snow was forecasted for the metro on Friday so in hopes of minimizing driving through it we left on Thursday. No snow in Grand Junction but cold and windy. As soon as we arrived we realized that we had left our coats at home, so a trip to Target was called for. We have a favorite hotel we always stay in even though it is not as upgraded as some. They do not have roll in showers in the accessible rooms but provide a shower chair that fits over the tub. Not normally a problem but this time getting my legs into the tub and scooting over to the middle was surprisingly difficult and painful. I do better when I can shower each day but decided to skip the remaining day. We had a pleasant visit and drove home Sunday morning. Heavy traffic is always expected when heading back to Denver. It doesn’t really make a difference no matter what time you travel. Two hours in and traffic came to a crawl the rest of the way home. So a four hour drive turned into six.

All of these things cause stress for me. Wondering how sore I will be after a long period of time in the car or will we be able to stop somewhere to use the restroom and will it be accessible and how exhausted will I be the next day after returning home.

Surprisingly enough, everything I was worrying about worked itself out. We did get ten inches of snow that Friday but it was melted by Sunday which meant that my husband didn’t have to shovel!
