When I opened my iPad today I had two posts about human kindness. The first was a story from an MS writer who had an experience in a grocery store. The second was a quote from a relative.

Both express the result of being kind to others.

A few months ago I wrote about an MRI that I had at Highlands Ranch Hospital. I filled out a survey praising the staff following the appointment. I had another MRI today and was fortunate to have the same tech as before. We recognized each other and I commented to him about how great my experience had been. He thanked me and continued with the test.

Granted new machines and headphones that work make a difference during an MRI but it is the human touch that truly matters. My test was once again comfortable and pleasant as it could possible be during an MRI. I don’t believe that hospital staff receives direct compliments very often and it is easy to assume that because it is their job we don’t really pay attention. Anyone that works in the service industry deserves praise when they contribute more than just pushing a button. Who knows, kindness may spread just as quickly as hatefulness if we give it a chance.
