Changes
When I imagined what life in my 50’s and 60’s would look like, I pictured living in my dream home, working in a part-time job of my choosing, enjoying the freedom of my husbands retirement, traveling when and wherever we wanted and spending time with my grandchildren.
A diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis changed my thoughts on all of the lifestyle I pictured. Or at least I believed that it would.
Turns out these ideas are still available to me depending on my attitude towards them.
I still live in a beautiful home that is handicapped accessible, I don’t work part-time which allows me time for scrapbooking, bible study and book club. My husband/caregiver retired and works part-time from home allowing him to set his own schedule. We travel when and where we want but with a few adjustments. We spend time with our 8 grandchildren and plan to take the entire family to Disney World in the fall.
So yes, my life doesn’t always look the way I imagined it would, but I try to live everyday to the best of my ability. Gratitude, flexibility and acceptance is the key.
